Shallow Bowl in traditional Koru design, made from Wenge and Maple. 250mm diameter and 80mm high.

Design inspired by artist Gordon Walters.

This is a rolled edge bowl made from Poplar, with a pyrography embellishment. The imagery was inspired by the English tale of 'The Lambton Worm'. The Dragon and Fish have been subtly coloured with Gilders metallic paste and it is finished with the Beall Buffing System.  WxH 250mm x 80mm

Oak bowl carved, textured and painted with rust paint. Inspiration for this piece was drawn from the iron clad ships of the American Civil War.  135mm Diameter, 105mm High

Sweet chestnut 300mm x 40mm deep. Turned then router jig used. Eight coats laquer. Buffed with EEE.

Flowering Gum Burl - 420mm Diameter, 90mm High. A decorative bowl with three carved feet on the base.

A Rimu burr veneered Art Deco styled box with various other species of timber veneer and bone inlay. Solid brass hardware. Size 280 x 280 x 85mm high.

A traditional ginger jar shaped, pet cremation urn. Made from Macrocarpa with pyrographic detail. The box stands 150mm high and is 120mm in diameter at its widest point.  Concept and design inspired by Bill Clark and acknowledges his work. 

A trifoot Asian style pet ashes keepsake urn. Turned from Macrocarpa with basket weave style pyrography and apple burl “Torii gate” cross piece.  The box stands 130mm x 120mm wide.  Concept and design inspired by Troy Grimwood and exhibited with his permission. 

This Commissionaire style box is adapted from a Chris Stott design.  Here made from olive wood, possibly a tree planted by Logan Campbell in 1880, 140 mm high, finished with wax.

Dyed ash lidded box with black finial and trim. Finial has 3 captive rings. Diameter 13cm Height 28cm.

Segmented spiral vase using purple heart, wenge, maple, rosewood and sapele. Finished in Fishies Lacquer and polished using the Beall system.  Rim dia 270, base dia 90 and overall height is 200 mm.

Caratacos is an original male Celtic name, Derived from the Celtic element car meaning "love". This was the name of a 1st-century British chieftain who rebelled against Roman rule. I have chosen this name to show the strong male influence in the design of this 3 piece writing gift set. The timber used is NZ Rewarewa with NZ Tanekaha. The hardware is 24cart gold and Rodium. The display box is Rose wood.

Turned from Copper Beech, lines burnt with pyrograph, textured with a round burr and airbrushed with Golden acrylic paint  165mmdia x 215 high. Finally finished with lacquer.

This vessel is made from a young Puriri tree, native to New Zealand, it shows some of the sap wood in white that contrasts with the natural dark brown of the main tree

This piece is made from Rewarewa and has a deep turn under to show off the beauty of the wood.

It is150mm x 65mm.

Widest dimensions: Base = 110mm (hollow Taiwan cherry inverted vortex shape); hollow form = 120mm (spalted maple), ring around hollow form = 120mm (Kauri). Height = 495mm.  Spindle and finial are Gardenia with Tasmanian blackwood connections at top and bottom of hollow form. Spindle, finial, and connectors colored with Baroque antique gold guilders paste. Skytower is made from eight separately turned pieces.

Purpleheart with Macrocarpa and Rimu Finial.  Acrylics. Finished with Danish oil and Carnauba wax.  175mm wide, 210mm high. 

Evoking earth’s movement. Flowing volcanic curves. Beneath thin crust, magma voids wait to erupt forth. Carved feet symbolise tectonic movement. Timber: Apricot. Approximately: 175 mm diameter x 160 mm height.

Jacaranda natural-edge bowl with three black (pyrography) feet. Widest diameter is 200mm by 100mm height. Natural edge is 20-50mm wide and deeply undercut to the bowl wall (3mm thickness).

A natural-edged bowl of mulberry wood 280 mm diameter - with apologies to the excluded silkworms.

Silver Birch Burl - 155mm Diameter, 100mm High. A natural edged burl with a round bottom. 3mm thick turned green and left to distort leaving it with a beautiful leathery texture.

Nexus 5 finished. Wood: Black Maire. Height: 240 mm. Diameter:180 mm. Texture: Pyrography with iridescent acrylic paint.

Tui sculpture is 580mm high, carved from Tupelo wood. Brass/epoxy legs, glass eyes, individual feathers burned using pyrography pens and painted with Acrylic paint. Magnolia base and drift wood stand.

Wood: Rhododendron. Height: 355mm. Diameter: 115mm. Texture: Pyrography with iridescent acrylic paint. This art piece was turned on two axes with the centre of the legs carved out.

Wood: Matai. Diameter: 200 mm. Height: 70 mm. Texture: Pyrography with iridescent paint. This art piece is Turned and carved. 

Wood: 100 year old Olive. Height: 275mm. Diameter: 125mm. Turned and carved. This is number 8 in this series, which I started around 2007.

 I also produce smooth shiny bowls and platters, but enjoy  exploring textures. This cracked & barky piece of Fastigata could well handle the abuse I dished out to it!  Carved, burned, sandblasted. Danish oil. W. 360mm 

Crusted rock, deceptively cool. Molten heat radiates underneath. A connection of elemental power with the beauty of natural timber. Timber: Heart Rimu. Size: 445 mm diameter x 56 mm height.
